The ZONGO project was developed by the DESIS KNUST lab at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in Kumasi, Ghana. This project is the  sixth project in the series of thematic areas. All projects are activities carried out by the Laboratories of DESIS Network and respond to the call of thematic areas, whose objectives can be seen here.

The project starting point was a work developed collaboratively with community and faculty members to explore sustainable solutions in order to solve problems in the Zongo community. The aim of ZONGO project is to create an enabling environment to explore sustainable solutions to emerging problems in the Zongo community.

Youth unemployment is a major challenge, in the Ayigya Zongo (one of the economic deprived communities that surrounds the university). The project is designed as a strategy to address youth unemployment by providing an avenue for skills training and harness the capabilities of the youth in and around the community.
