Sujeong-dong Hope Village Vertical Fram

Hope Village Vertical Farm was established in 2011 as part of the local community revitalization project, but it was going through difficulties due to the aging of the community members and the lack of creative business ideas. Thus, the project attempted to combine Smart Farm technology, which is emerging as a key future industry, and to lead the voluntary participation of residents to implement a creative business model, and establish a successful case of urban farming.

According to the terms of the 1953 Korean War Armistice Agreement, a demilitarized zone (DMZ) was established to serve as a buffer zone between North and South Korea. Situated within a distance of 5-20 km from Southern Limit Line of the DMZ, the Civilian Control Zone serves to restrict civilian access to the area. Only residents and military personnel living in the area who have government permission are allowed to enter the area after passing a basic inspection.
