The COVID-19 health crisis can be seen as a radical unplanned social experiment in new ways of living and caring for each other. Viewed from this perspective, it reveals the fragility of contemporary formal and informal systems of care. At the same time, it highlighted the importance of the territorial distribution of services and digital technologies in overcoming the associated challenges in an urban context.
‘Nurturing Communities of Care. A pathway to designing more resilient cities.’ is a webinar co-hosted by DesisLab Elisava & The Care Lab to reflect together upon how we might reimagine and redesign new ways to nurture care through community-based models that can make our cities more resilient.
The session will start with a conversation between Hilary Cottam OBE & Professor Ezio Manzini around the relational and territorialized dimension of Care, it will follow with a round of inspiring thoughts on new models of community-based Care from diverse perspectives across EU & beyond (Barcelona, Trieste, Rotterdam & Singapore) and finish with a Panel discussion to identify key research challenges for the future of Caring Communities and Compassionate & Resilient Cities.
