10 years on. Where are we now and where are we headed?
Northumbria DESIS lab (nDESIS) was established in 2012. The last decade has seen significant change. Sustainable development has become a rallying call structurally re-shaping policy, business and education; digital technologies have given voice to new forms of civic engagement; and our liberties, mobility and how we choose to live have become common conversations amongst people living within or after COVID-19 restrictions.
In this DESIS Café we present a range current work based at Northumbria University’s School of Design to discuss how over the last 10 years design for social innovation has normalised across research and teaching contexts and to consider where our direction of travel places us in relationship to how we can act now to inform how we might live tomorrow.

We will open our Labs and invite all members to share their activities about social innovation. Our DesisCafé will take place anywhere a Desis Lab is: on a patio, a terrace, a classroom, a kitchen, a beach, or even in the jungle. Who knows?
