At this online roundtable, hosted by DESIS and part of the UAL ‘Carnival of Crisis’ festival, we will explore: how can we craft new social economies and mobilise creative action in an age of emergency?
Dr Francesco Mazzarella (London College of Fashion, UAL) and Dr Spyros Bofylatos (University of the Aegean) will present projects from around the globe which show the potential of social innovation to be an open, decolonised and emancipatory tool for betterment of society. These ‘glocalisation’ initiatives foster the emergence of local making autonomy and community resilience, in turn leading to the creation of new social economies which can help to overcome the current environmental and social crises.
The event will also include a collective discussion of the DESIS booklet “Design for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship” (https://lnkd.in/dXrYRZ8k) and a talk from Cynthia Lawson Jaramillo (Parsons The New School of Design, NYC).
